Due
to earthquake-related damage in late 2016, Rotorua Museum | Te Whare Taonga o Te Arawa is currently closed
to the public. A project to strengthen and restore the building is underway,
with the Museum expected to reopen in 2027/2028.
Following extensive research into the building and ground works, construction began in June 2024 and is progressing well.
