FOGO bin deliveries starting

Spot a new green bin outside your place? FOGO bin deliveries began late July - no changes just yet!

Keep using your current collection schedule until 1 October. Then it's weekly FOGO pickups and alternating fortnightly rubbish and recycling collections.

We expect to deliver over 27,000 bins by mid-September - please be patient if yours hasn't arrived yet. Contact us if you experience any problems with your FOGO bin delivery.

FOGO (Food Organic & Green Organic) is a new kerbside organic waste collection service coming to Rotorua on 1 October 2026.

Key things to know

From August 2026

  • We will be delivering an 80‑litre green‑lid wheelie bin to all households and businesses in urban and primarily residential areas of the district between August and September. Please do not put your new FOGO bin out for collection until after 1 October 2026.

From 1 October 2026

  • Weekly FOGO kerbside collections begin. Use the collection day search tool or check the collections calendar to confirm your collection day
  • Red‑lid waste bins will move to fortnightly collection, alternating with your yellow‑lid recycling bin.
