New FOGO start date - 1 October 2026

Food and Garden Organics (FOGO) kerbside collection service will now start on 1 October 2026.

The new bins will start being delivered between August and September 2026.

FOGO (Food Organic & Green Organic) is a new kerbside organic waste collection service coming to Rotorua on 1 October 2026.

Key things to know

From August 2026

We will be delivering an 80‑litre green‑lid wheelie bin to all households and businesses in urban and primarily residential areas of the district between August and September. Please do not put your new FOGO bin out for collection until after 1 October 2026.

From 1 October 2026

Weekly FOGO kerbside collections begin. Use the collection day search tool or check the collections calendar to confirm your collection day
Red‑lid waste bins will move to fortnightly collection, alternating with your yellow‑lid recycling bin.
