Council’s policy is that the cost or providing additional network capacity to support growth is met by those creating the demand, primarily through development contributions rather than by existing ratepayers.
The following charges or obligations may be payable to Council, or to a related party of Council, for a new connection or other growth:
- Development contributions: payable on developments and subdivisions to fund the additional demand that new development places on infrastructure.
- Financial contributions: Council may require a financial contribution where works and services are required to avoid, remedy or mitigate the environmental effects of a proposed development. This may be paid in cash, land, or a combination of both.
Charges for water services
Council’s current water services charges are set out in the following documents which together contain the information required under clauses 4.8 and 4.9 of the Water Services Information Disclosure Determination 2026.
As a regulated supplier, the Council provides information on charges for its water supply and wastewater services at the single service level.
