Matariki Drone Show & Night Markets 2026
In association with ARONUI, the Rotorua Night Market are thrilled to announce the return of the hugely successful Matariki Drone Show and Night Markets to the Rotorua Lakefront in 2026!
Just like last year, the Rotorua Night Market will temporarily relocate to the Rotorua Village Green, and this year we will run across three nights.
2026 Matariki Night Market Operating Hours
• Thursday, 9 July 2026: 5pm – 9pm
• Friday, 10 July 2026: 1pm – 9pm
• Saturday, 11 July 2026: 1pm – 9pm
Expressions of Interest Submissions
Over 30,000 people attended last year’s event, and we expect more than ever this year. Because of the increased expected attendance and operational costs there are new vendor prices and conditions so please make sure you carefully read through the attached pack, and notes below, before submitting before the deadline of midnight, Friday 5 June 2026 to markets@rotorualc.nz
We require a completed submission from all vendors wanting to take part in the Matariki Drone Show & Night Markets (even vendors who already attend the weekly Rotorua Night Market). Only complete the last page of the application pack (Form SI 2 – Request for new debtor) if you are not already attending the weekly Rotorua Night Market.
Limited Menu's
As we know, the Matariki Night Market draws a large crowd. To help manage food preparation times and ensure a smooth flow during the busy dinner period, we recommend offering a limited menu for the evening.
Keeping your menu streamlined will help minimise wait times and allow you to cater to a higher volume of customers more efficiently. We appreciate your support in helping create a great experience for everyone attending.
Vendor Expressions of Interest Requirements
1. All Expressions of Interest must be complete and include:
- A valid Food Control Plan
- A current Market Stall License from Rotorua Lakes Council
- Public Liability Insurance
- Form SI 2 (only required if you don’t not currently attend the Rotorua Night Market)
Please double-check that all required licenses and forms are attached and complete. Only fully completed submissions will be reviewed.
2. Deadline for submission:
- All completed submissions must be submitted by midnight, Friday 5 June 2026.
- Late submissions will not be accepted.
- Incomplete submissions will be declined, unless otherwise notified.
3. Additional Details:
- All vendors must commit to attending three days of the event.
- By submitting an Expression of Interest, you are agreeing to the fees set out in the application and payment terms of Rotorua Lakes Council.
- By submitting an Expression of Interest, you are agreeing to Night Market terms and conditions as set out in the Handbook.
- Due to limited resources, we will do our best to accommodate requests but cannot guarantee all preferences.
- We strive for diversity in the products and services we offer at this event. As such, applications will be reviewed with a focus on variety.
- Maximum of three vendors offering similar products will be allowed, so please be sure to detail your offering clearly when you apply.
- Overnight security will be provided, ensuring that all your equipment and gear can be safely left onsite during the event (Thursday 9 and Friday 10 July 2026)
4. Cancellation Policy:
In the event of bad weather or unforeseen circumstances, we will refund vendor fees depending on the number of days affected.
- If all three event days are cancelled, you will receive a full refund.
- If one day is cancelled, refunds will be issued proportionally based on the day(s) missed.
