Subject: Official Information request - parking machines
I refer to your online Official Information request of 13 February 2023 regarding the parking machines, specifically:
"Information on the tracking and logging of errors with the parking payment machines located in the Rotorua CBD, including the accuracy of this information (logging and notification frequency and parameters, specifically covering if machines are malfunctioning or rebooting, can fault notifications be sent or detected?)"
Meter errors are tracked as follows.
- A meter status dashboard is permanently available to the technical service team that indicates if there are any suspected faults on the meters. This also provides a watchdog function.
- Alarms are generated whenever a meter determines that there is a possible error. These are logged in the meter management system and are available to the technical service team as required. NB. Not all alarms generated result in an out of service condition.
- All public calls are recording and any substantiated calls indicating that there is a meter error is then passed to the technical service team.
- Meter alarms are transmitted as they arise.
- The meter watchdog time is set to 15 minutes.
- Meters “check in” at scheduled times during the day. These are currently 8 AM, 10 AM, 12 PM, 2 PM and Midnight. Any low-level alarms are transmitted at these times.
