Topic: Upcoming changes to parking in the Rotorua inner city

Reporter asked if there was information available that explained all the parking changes that will be coming in from 1 July in the inner city as he found it difficult to get an accurate picture of all changes from the map that was included in the agenda for today’s Council meeting.

He also asked for the number of currently free parks proposed to be transitioning to paid/permit parks.

We provided a copy of the news item that appears on our website (Council Signs Off on New Inner-City Parking Programme - Rotorua Lakes Council) and noted that there was more information and FAQs on the website page.

Regarding the number of parks transitioning to paid or permit parks we provided the following:

From 1 July there will be 823 permit parks. Some of those might currently be all day free, time-limited or pink zone (50c an hour). [We] don't have the breakdown of exactly what they are now.
