Had a call from a member of the public about some damage to the footbridge from the bad weather earlier this month.

Just a few questions:

• Are council aware of the damage?
• If so, when were council made aware of the damage?
• Is the bridge still accessible?
• Is there a timeline for repairs?

Response

From a Council Spokesperson:

The footbridge over the Waiteti Stream was one of 14 wind-related incidents reported over the weekend of 13–14 September, as covered in the Rotorua Daily Post.

The fallen tree caused structural damage, so the bridge is closed for safety and will remain closed while we determine the best way to repair it.
