15 Sept 2025: weather events, Te Ngae site use

Topic: Weather-related callouts
Enquiry
Just checking in to see if council was called to any wind-related incidents over the weekend around the district?
Response
From a Council Spokesperson:
Rotorua Lakes Council staff and contractors responded to 14 wind-related reports during the weekend for fallen trees, branches and debris in the city and rural areas. Some roads were temporarily closed while crews cleared the way. Contractors were still tidying up at a few sites today.
A tree is blocking the footbridge over the Waiteti Stream, and due to the complexity of the job, it’s expected to be cleared later this week.
