The estimated economic impact of $1 million is specific to Rotorua, covering direct and indirect contributions. This includes spending on accommodation, hospitality, transport and tourism experiences.

May I please get a little more comment as to what this kind of event does for Rotorua? For example, what flow on effects will there be within the conference space?

Hosting an event of this scale enhances Rotorua’s reputation as a business events destination. It attracts further interest from international and national event organisers, strengthens local supplier networks and encourages investment in infrastructure and services that benefit future conferences. It also provides opportunities for knowledge exchange and professional development within the local industry.

The event will be held at the Energy Events Centre in April 2026.

Rotorua has a strong pipeline of conferences secured for the coming year, spanning key sectors such as health, forestry, indigenous business and education. Recent trends show an increasing preference for destinations offering unique cultural and natural experiences, positioning Rotorua favourably in the business events market.
