Pay Online
Please note that a 2% surcharge will be added to all credit card and PayWave payments, whether you pay online or in person.
Pay an invoice, your rates or dog registration online
Pay online with credit or debit card through our secure payment gateway.
Depending on your invoice, you will need to include either your Particulars followed by the Code or the Payment/Portal Reference.
These details enable Council to see which invoice has been paid and the person responsible for the payment.
If your invoice has Particulars and Code
Enter your Particulars followed by the Code as one number in to the Payment Reference box.
If your invoice has a Portal Reference
Enter the Portal Reference number in to the Payment Reference box.
Other ways to pay
If you have trouble accessing our payment gateway or you want to pay by another method, you can also:
- Pay through internet banking
- Pay in person.
Internet banking
To pay by internet banking:
- log in to your bank account
- select your bill Payment function
- click ‘Payee’ and use the search function to search for ‘Rotorua Lakes Council’ (you do not need the bank account number)
- select ‘Rotorua Lakes Council…. Misc Invoice Payments’ and the correct bank details will be entered automatically
- enter the amount to be paid
- click statement details and enter the Particulars and Code details from your invoice
- click approve payment
If you experience difficulty with your internet banking contact your bank's Customer Service 0800 number.
In person
Pay by cash, EFTPOS or credit card at the Customer Service Centre in the Civic Centre, 1061 Haupapa Street, Rotorua from 8am to 5pm weekdays (except public holidays). Remember to bring the invoice with you as you will need the payment details.
Please note that all payments using a credit card or PayWave will incur a 2% surcharge.
