I refer to your Official Information request of 26 August 2026, for information regarding the Matariki Drone Show
Questions:
- Information on the cost of the Matariki drones display.
- Was this a rate payer expense?
- Was the cost in the vicinity of $500,000?
- And was it to an American company?
Answer:
Councils only involvement with the Matariki Drone Show was to provide approval to use the Lakefront,
therefore Council refuses your request under section 17(g) of the LGOIMA ‘that the information
requested is not held by the local authority.’
