I refer to your Official Information request of 4 August 2026 for information regarding Workforce Information.

Questions:

Please provide us with the following information for the year 1 July 2024 – 30 June 2025:

1. The proportion of the council’s employees who are women.
2. The proportion of the council’s employees who are men.
3. The proportion of the council’s employees who are another gender.
4. The proportion of the council’s employees who are Māori.
5. Annual staff turnover.

Answer:

1. 263 (51.56%)
2. 246 (48.24%)
3. 1 (0.20%) Please note that Councils system asks alongside Female and Male –‘Other Gender’ and ‘Prefer not to say’. This 1 was in the category ‘Prefer not to say.’
4. 13.33% Please note this is what Council currently has recorded within its payroll system. Ethnicity data is not a ‘Required’ field, so not all employees have provided this information.
