Subject: Official Information Request - Fluoride Chemicals in Water

I refer to your Official Information request, partially transferred from the Ministry of Health on 5 December 2025, for information regarding Fluoride Chemicals in water.

Please find responses below to your requests from the partial transfer from Ministry of Health of questions 3, 5, 11, 16, 17 and 18:

Question 3:

Provide the full chemical composition, including chemical names, chemical formulae, and concentrations of all fluoride compounds added to the public water supply.

Answer:

Please see Attachment 1 and Attachment 2.

Question 5:

Provide details of any chemical by-products, waste, or residues generated during production, storage, transport, or dosing, including their environmental and human health impacts.

Answer:

Please see appendix A of Attachment 3. The appendix lists the limits of impurities within Hydrofluorosilicic acid. The Supplier tests each batch of fluoride before delivery.

Question 11:

Identify all contractors, consultants, and water treatment personnel who handle, dose, or monitor fluoride chemicals.

Answer:

Under section 7 (2)(a) of the LGOIMA ‘to protect the privacy of natural persons’ Council withholds the identities of the contractors, consultants and water treatment personnel, however, please see below the positions of the above:

• A Contractor delivers the Fluoride.
• A Specialist Contractor services the fluoride dosing and monitoring systems quarterly
• A team of RLC Water Treatment Plant Operators monitor the system daily and are on call for any system alarms

Question 16:

Provide copies of all risk assessments, environmental impact statements, monitoring reports, and internal or external evaluations regarding fluoride safety, dosing, and public health.

Question 17:

Provide documentation of regulatory compliance, inspections, or audits by government or third-party authorities.

Question 18:

Disclose any incidents, complaints, or breaches relating to fluoride chemical safety, handling, or dosing.

There have been no incidents, complaints, or breaches relating to fluoride chemical safety, handling, or dosing.
