I refer to your Official Information request of 2 September 2025 for information regarding the elected members payments.

Questions:

Do elected members receive any remuneration/allowances/compensation for attending council/committee/community meetings/events?

If so, what are the rates that are paid.

Answer:

Elected members are remunerated according to the Local Government Elected Members (2025/26) Determination 2025 legislation.

The Remuneration Authority sets this and also sets the rules for reimbursement of costs met by members in undertaking their duties.

Elected members do not receive any additional remuneration, allowances or compensation for attending council meeting, committee meetings, community meetings or community events.
