I refer to your Official Information request of 14 March 2025 regarding pedestrian crossings.

Please find below the responses to your questions:

1. When did you build your first raised pedestrian crossing, and why? (As opposed to a standard zebra crossing)
   June 2021. We chose to build raised crossings as, according to NZTA Pedestrian Network Guidance, raised pedestrian crossings are preferred as they give pedestrians priority, making crossings more obvious and safe, and can help reduce vehicle speeds and increase driver yielding rates.
2. How many have you built since the first one?
   16 (17 in total)
3. In the past 5 years, how many pedestrians have been injured on traditional zebra crossings in your area?
   There have been 6 reported pedestrian crashes on traditional zebra crossings in the last 5 years (NZTA CAS database).
4. In the past 5 years, how many pedestrians have been injured on raised pedestrian crossings in your area?
   No reported crashes on raised pedestrian crossings in the past 5 years (NZTA CAS database).
