Subject: Official Information request - location of playgrounds and skateparks
I refer to your Official Information request of 23 November 2024 for a list with addresses (or GIS location) of all the playgrounds and skateparks that Rotorua Lakes Council either owns or manages, with information on which have drinking fountains or accessibility equipment.
Please find attached a spreadsheet containing the information requested - (PDF, 53.5KB)
By way of explanation:
- Column G ‘Fountain’ indicates if a drinking fountain is present.
- Column H ‘Accessibility’ indicates if there is specific accessibility-based equipment (Yes) or if the playground has been improved with hard surface walkways to it and through the cushion fall (Pathways / Furniture). This also indicates that the furniture (picnic table, seating) has been upgraded to be more inclusive.
- Column I ‘Public Toilet’ shows if there is a public toilet in the reserve.
- Column J ‘Skatepark’ indicates if there is a skatepark associated with each playground. Row 81 skatepark is a stand-alone facility with no playground attached.
Not all reserves have a street number however the street where the reserve is located has been included.
To see the location of each playground / skatepark geographically Council does have these in a ArcGIS map.

Note: This map is out of date and the Active & Engaged Communities team will be working with GIS in the new year to update the information. There are playgrounds / skateparks that no longer exist and the photos of some playgrounds are out of date as the playground has been replaced.
