I refer to your information request of 18 December 2023 regarding the licence between Rotorua Lakes Council and Te Arawa Lakes Trust for the boardwalk located on the bed of Lake Rotorua. Your request has been processed under the Local Government Official Information and Meetings Act.

Your specific requests were:

• What the cost was to Rotorua ratepayers. Was the payment a one-off or is there an annual fee.
• What are the conditions of the licence.

The costs were/are:

• $20,000 licence establishment fee (one-off)
• $10,000 per annum, CPI adjusted every three years (ongoing)

Attached is the Memorandum of Licence - (PDF, 7MB), between Lake Rotorua Lake Holding No 1 Limited and Rotorua District Council relating to ‘a boardwalk to be erected on the bed of Lake Rotorua.’
