Subject: Official Information request - use of herbicides

I refer to your Official Information request of 29 January 2024 for Council’s Health and Safety Plan or Risk Management Plan for the use of herbicides in public areas.

Council’s weed spraying is undertaken by our council-controlled organisation Infracore. Attached is Infracore’s policy for weed spraying (Section 6.3.024 Weedspraying – Infracore) (PDF 285KB).

In addition, attached is an extract from Council’s Open Spaces Maintenance Contract (PDF 91KB) stipulating the requirements for the contractor (Infracore) regarding pesticide and herbicide application.

Council also operates under the BOP Air Quality Plan and NZS Standard 8409:2004.
