I refer to your LGOIMA request of 24 April 2023 regarding graphic designers within our organisation, and respond below as per your email:

• How many in-house graphic designers does your organisation employ?
  For the period 1/4/22-17/7/22 – 2.55 FTE
  For the period 19/7/22-31/3/23 – 2.95 FTE
• What is the budget for in-house/employed graphic designers?
  For the period 1/4/22-31/3/23 - $253,197.12 in salaries and $24,698.75 in licensing costs for graphic design and operating software
• How much has been spent on contracting external graphic designers?
  $5,535.07
  • If external contractors have been used, why did your organisation not use your employed/in-house graphic designers?
    Waka Kotahi commissioned the original work from an external designer so the design iterations (such as resizing for new signs) came from that same external designer. As a minority funder of these communications, Council agreed to maintain the status quo. All new road safety campaigns co-funded by Waka Kotahi have been briefed to RLC-s in-house graphic design team.
• If employed/in-house or external contractors have been used to design a report in the last 12 months, was the report made public?
