Regarding the museum release issued by RLC today the reporter had the following question:

Can you please tell me how much under budget the project was?

Following our response to the above, the reporter asked:

Given the numbers are yet to be finalised, can you please tell me on what basis the words “under budget” are being used?

Response

We provided the following information:

Accounts for complex construction projects typically take a number of months to be finalised. Once this has been done, we will be able to announce the final cost. We hope to be able to do this by the end of the year.

Subsequent response:

Based on our current assessment, we are confident the project is under budget. As procurement and delivery activities remain commercially sensitive, detailed financial figures cannot be released at this stage. Once the final account process is complete and all relevant reporting requirements have been met, we will be pleased to share that information
