Consultation on road reserve
Council is proposing to sell it to Summerset to enable its use as an alternative vehicle access. Before it can be sold, the road reserve status of the land must be revoked. If this process were successful, the alternative access would be gated and would mainly be used for emergency services and deliveries. Residents and visitors to the retirement village would be expected to use the main entrance off State Highway 5/Fairy Springs Road.
The land at 10 Barnard Road was vested in Council in 1957 as part of a larger subdivision, for the specific purpose of providing vehicle access to land to the north. The land is classified as road reserve under the Reserves Act 1977 and is currently being leased for the private use of the neighbouring motel.
