Often out of sight, out of mind, quality infrastructure is critical to meet current and future demand, while meeting the expectations of our district.
This new reservoir will hold up to 1500m3 of water, providing extra storage capacity during peak water usage times such as the height of summer. It also adds resilience to the water supply by allowing one reservoir to be taken offline for maintenance without effecting the continuity of water supply.
The construction of this third water reservoir on Tarawera Road will provide water storage flexibility should there be any issues with the existing tank, and will strengthen the resiliency of the water network in the eastside where the majority of future residential growth is expected to occur.
The water main from the Waipa spring in the forest has also been recently duplicated to add supply resilience to the network that pipes the drinking water to the reservoir.
We want to acknowledge local company, Concrete Structures NZ for helping us deliver safe and reliable infrastructure.
