Friday 22 September
From tomorrow (Saturday 23 Sept) the Rotorua Aquatic Centre outdoor heated pool will be back in operation.

An issue with the bore that provides heating to the Rotorua Aquatic Centre has forced the closure of the centre while the problem is sorted.
An investigation following loss of heat to the pool this morning [Tuesday 19 September] found geothermal sediment in the bore pipes which can cause blockages and damage.
This meant the bore had to be shut down to enable further investigation of the cause and to determine what steps need to be taken to fix the problem.
Stakeholders such as swim clubs are being notified and the centre will need to remain closed until further notice. Under the Building Code the centre cannot remain open with no domestic hot water supply.
Council and contractors will be working to identify and rectify the bore issue as quickly as possible so that the facility can be re-opened.
The centre, which is managed by CLM, is currently undergoing a major upgrade with just the outdoor facilities open while construction is underway.
We apologise for the inconvenience and will get the centre open again as quickly as is possible.
Keep an eye on Rotorua Lakes Council and Rotorua Aquatic Centre channels for updates on the situation.
