Community Safety Hub to be located in inner city
In response to calls from the public to have a more visible Police and safety presence in the inner city, Rotorua Mayor Tania Tapsell has announced the establishment of a community safety hub to be located in the CBD.
The hub will form part of the inner-city revitalisation programme and it is envisaged that other community support services including customer service, crime prevention and public information could be provided from the hub.
Mayor Tapsell said the hub will increase visibility and responsiveness and ensure Council’s security staff, Police, and other community services are working together to support and protect our community.
Council’s Community and District Development Committee will receive a detailed proposal for the hub at their meeting on Wednesday 13 September. This report will provide recommendations for the hub’s location, resourcing and hours of operation along with a proposed launch date.
The agenda for the next Community and District Development Committee will be available on Wednesday 4 September on Council's livestream page.
