Community Board By-election update
Jennifer Rothwell has been elected unopposed to the Rotorua Lakes Community Board to replace Stephanie George who resigned from the position earlier this year.
Ms Rothwell was the only nomination received for the vacant Lakes Community Board member position.
Lakes board chair Phill Thomass says he is very pleased to welcome Ms Rothwell back to the board – she was a member during the last term.
“She was a skilled and enthusiastic board member last term and we are lucky to be able to draw on her experience and abilities to support our lakes communities going forward,” Mr Thomass said.
By-election needed for rural board
A by-election will be required for a position on the Rotorua Rural Community Board which was vacated by Anker Hansen.
Two nominations have been received.
The two candidates are Tina Rose and John Atkinson.
Nominations for the vacancies on the two boards opened on 26 July 2023 and closed 23 August 2023.
Voting for the rural board will be by postal vote under the First Past the Post electoral system. Voting papers will be mailed out to electors in late September and voting will close on 19 October.
There are 5337 eligible voters in the Rotorua Rural Ward.
