Locating Frances Hodgkins – a talk by Mary Kisler

Friends of Rotorua Museum present a talk by well-known curator Mary Kisler about New Zealand born artist Frances Hodgkins (1969 - 1947), on Thursday (20 August 2015) at 5.30pm.
Kisler will talk about her current project to create an online catalogue raisonn (a comprehensive listing of all known artworks) of Frances Hodgkins, along with research for a book and an exhibition which will focus on the importance of location for the artist.
Kisler is Senior Curator, Mackelvie Collection, International Art at Auckland Art Gallery/Toi o Tāmaki, responsible for a collection ranging from the 13th to the mid-20th centuries. Kisler has been a regular guest on Kim Hill's Saturday Morning Show on National Radio since 2001.
As well as leading several art tours to Europe and Australia, Kisler has also written a number of books including Angels & Aristocrats: Early European Art in New Zealand Public Collections [Godwit, Random House, 2010].
