Bookings open for Tulip Fest bus tour
A much admired feature of the city's magnificent spring garden display, more than 40,000 tulip plants will be the focus of Tulip Fest Rotorua from October 2 - 11.
One of the highlights of the 10-day festival is a half day bus tour on Saturday 10 October, taking in Plenty Flora, Tyburn Monastery and Rotorua Tree Trust.
Plenty Flora at Horohoro is a well-known gerbera nursery and this year the company has grown a field of 1500 tulips especially to coincide with Tulip Fest. The tour will also visits Tyburn Monastery in Waikite Valley where visitors will have a chance to savour the monastery's tranquil gardens and enjoy a cup of tea. The final stop is the picturesque Centennial Gardens (more commonly known as the Rotorua Tree Trust) at Tihiotonga where the Peace Garden is expected to be a mass of spring-flowering cherry blossom.
