National Sevens action this weekend
16 January 2015
Rotorua International Stadium is the place to be this weekend to see some of New Zealand's best rugby talent in action.
The annual Bayleys National Sevens tournament is on this Saturday and Sunday (17-18 January) with play kicking off at 10am each day. The country's top 16 men's teams and top 10 women's teams are participating.
Event director Allison Stewart said tournament play starts at 10am on Saturday, with an official ceremony at 2pm when teams would march around the stadium.
There will also be a Sevens legends' match featuring an array of star players including DJ Forbes, Tim Mikkelson, Zar Lawrence and Craig De Goldie.
Organisers are encouraging people to dress up to add to what is expected to be a fun and colourful family atmosphere at the International Stadium. There will be lively music throughout each day along with a children's fun area, with a bouncy castle and other activities to keep the young ones occupied.
Daily tickets are $15 for adults, $5 for children and a family of four pass (two adults and two children) is $35 per day. Tickets are available from Ticketmaster or the International Stadium on the day.
