Inner city Ideas Store a hit with Rotorua locals
Rotorua District Council's (RDC) Ideas Store is proving popular with local people, many of whom have spent time sharing their ideas with council personnel since the Ideas Store opened last Saturday.
Residents and visitors to the city can visit the Tutanekai Street pop-up store to find out what is being done towards achieving the Rotorua 2030 short and long-term goals, and to share some of their ideas with the council.
RDC Inner City Revitalisation lead advisor, Portia McKenzie, said last weekend's opening was well received, with a regular stream of people stopping by and many staying to chat.
"It was great to see people sitting on the large park bench in the centre of the store, discussing their ideas with each other.
"The Ideas Store is providing a window of opportunity for local people to write down their aspirations for the future of Rotorua. We hope the weekend's success is an indication of more great ideas to come out of the store over the next couple of months."
The Ideas Store is situated along from City Focus and will be open until 10 January 2015.
hours are:
Monday to Friday 10am to 4pm, Saturdays 10am to 2pm and until 7pm Thursdays
The shop is closed on public holidays.
