Council supports getting Neighbourly online
Rotorua District Council is getting behind a new website which allows neighbours in a community to communicate and support each other online.
Social media site Neighbourly has been set up by entrepreneur and former Rotorua man, Shane Bradley. He has previously developed other successful sites including GrabOne, Sella, Finda and Shop HQ.
Mr Bradley said he offered Rotorua the opportunity to become the first provincial city associated with Neighbourly because he wanted to recognise his home town and offer something back.
The Neighbourly website is free to use. It allows neighbours to connect and share information, to support others in the neighbourhood and to work together on projects of comment interest.
At a meeting on Wednesday (18 June) of the council's Strategy, Policy & Finance Committee, councillors agreed to help promote Neighbourly to support Rotorua neighbourhoods and engender a sense of community.
Council also accepted an invitation to use the site to help promote the goals and priorities of the Rotorua 2030 vision, goals and priorities.
