Draft Annual Plan hearings underway this week
12 May 2014
Mayor Steve Chadwick and councillors will listen to submitters on Rotorua District Council's 2014/15 draft Annual Plan at public hearings this week.
The month-long period of consultation on the draft Annual Plan closed on Friday 2 May with 138 people and groups making submissions on a variety of issues.
Sixty four of the submitters have asked to speak to the mayor and councillors in support of their submissions and this will take place at public hearings from 13-15 May in the Council Chamber.
Topics covered by submitters are wide ranging with a number supporting the council's debt reduction strategy and removal of development contributions. Others commented on proposed new opening and closing hours for the Library and Aquatic Centre, and on downsizing the mobile library service. There was also feedback on the proposed Kuirau Park master plan and disability footpath access.
Following the hearings the council will then deliberate on all submissions from 9-11 June before adopting a final Annual Plan for 2014/15 on 27 June.
The new annual plan will come into effect on 1 July 2014.
