Temporary roundabout for Fenton St intersection on Sunday
5 April 2014
On Sunday [6 April] traffic at the intersection of Fenton and Amohau streets will be controlled by a temporary traffic roundabout for a period of time, rather than the usual traffic lights.
This is to allow traffic signals to be turned off while they are switched over to a new operating system following installation of upgraded cabling.
Rotorua District Council says the work is being undertaken on a Sunday to minimise disruption to motorists, and that the lights will be operational again as soon as switch-over work is completed.
The council is urging people to avoid the intersection on Sunday if at all possible, or to exercise extra care and patience if they do need to drive through that part of the city.
