Swap-a-snap with Rotorua
18 March 2014
Swap-a-snap with Rotorua and get your own download of Pokarekare Ana and be in to win a whole heap of prizes.
Destination Rotorua Marketing (DRM) has launched a social media competition encouraging visitors and locals to share the moments that make Rotorua New Zealand's coolest hot spot.
Those that 'swap-a-snap' get a download of the Pokarekare Ana remix used in the Famously Rotorua television commercials.
Those that enter go in the draw to win a whole raft of giveaways - with the big prize being a GoPro Hero 3 video camera.
DRM consumer marketing manager Brenna Townshend says the campaign was inspired by huge public demand for the song recorded by Supergroove frontman turned composer Karl Stevens specifically for the ad.
With the TV commercial we wanted to show how Rotorua has grown and changed over the years - a new take on something people think they know - and our version of Pokarekare Ana fit perfectly with this, says Ms Townshend.
Since the release of the commercials we've been humbled by how excited our fans have been about the commercial and song, and we want to give something back.
Instead of just releasing the song, we thought it would be cool to engage with people and get them to send us photos or videos of the things they like to do in Rotorua."
The competition aims to get people sharing their favourite experiences of Rotorua and these can be anywhere from eating out at a caf, enjoying the lakes and forest or visiting a hotel, activity or attraction.
The campaign finishes on 4 April.
