Music in the Band Rotunda' kicks off next month
16 January 2013
Rotorua's popular Music in the Band Rotunda' season returns to Government Gardens next month, kicking off with two local bands, Finely Tuned and Off Broadway.
A number of local performers will be entertaining at free afternoon concerts for seven Sundays beginning 17 February, with more than one act playing on some days.
Rotorua District Council's community arts officer Marc Spijkerbosch says the aim of the concerts is to profile the diverse musical talent that exists in the district.
This year's event is already proving to be quite popular, with many people inquiring about the new programme.
I encourage local families to pack a picnic and come along to enjoy some great local music in a wonderful setting.
Sunday events at the band Rotunda will feature jazz, blues, orchestral, brass and choral work with performances starting at 1pm and finishing around 2.30pm.
The line-up for the seven weeks of Music in the Band Rotunda' is as follows:
- February 17 - Finely Tuned; Off Broadway
- February 24 - The Nostalgia Band
- March 3 - Keith Garratt and Friends
- March 10 - Blues Club
- March 17 - Sunrise Rockers; The Edward Brothers
- March 23 - Thermaleles; Accousticity
- March 30 - Rotorua Symphonic Band/Rotorua Highland Pipe Band
