Locals encouraged to join graffiti-free movement
An eye-sore at the Manuka Crescent Reserve is about to become a sight for sore eyes as Rotorua District Council and locals join forces to eradicate unsightly tagging during Keep New Zealand Beautiful Graffiti-Free Week.
The inaugural nationwide event to remove graffiti from local neighbourhoods is taking place from 4 to 11 November.
RDC Keep Rotorua Beautiful coordinator, Rose Hiha-Agnew, is coordinating a working bee at Manuka Crescent Reserve on Thursday 7 November from 10am to 12pm to paint a large wall which was targeted by vandals.
Keep New Zealand Beautiful Graffiti-Free Week is a time when individuals, businesses, schools and groups can get out into their communities and help to remove graffiti from their patch.
The Manuka Crescent Reserve clean-up is a great opportunity for Rotorua residents to be part of a rewarding community enhancement event. I'll be there with our graffiti removal expert and encourage local people to come along and help us, or organise their own events and publicise it on the Keep New Zealand Beautiful website for others to get involved in.
We've combined resources with Rotary, Resene and Conservation Volunteers NZ so we're ready to meet Graffiti-Free Week head-on.
Mrs Hiha-Agnew said Resene will supply free paint for graffiti cover-up projects during Graffiti-Free Week. Email project details to update@resene.co.nz to receive this offer.
