Final Rotorua council election results declared
Mayor Steve Chadwick and Deputy Mayor Dave Donaldson.
It's now official. Steve Chadwick has been declared formally elected to Rotorua's mayoral office.
Rotorua District Council's electoral officer Warwick Lampp has today (Friday 19 October) declared the final results from the October 12 council elections.
With a final tally of 11,630 votes, Steve Chadwick has officially won the mayoralty by a substantial margin of 6841 votes over her nearest rival, former Mayor Kevin Winters (4789 votes).
The other mayoral candidates and their final vote counts were Rob Kent (2,462), Janine RangiMarie Bosma (384), and Helen Hindmarsh (331).
Also confirmed as the 12 councillors taking their seats in the council chamber for Rotorua District Council's 2013-16 term are:

The three highest polling unsuccessful council candidates were former councillor Julie Calnan (6,541), Fraser Newman (6,226), and Nick Chater (5,883).
Mayor Chadwick has already announced that third term councillor Dave Donaldson will assume the role of deputy mayor.

The voter return for the 2013 election was a total of 19,836 voting papers representing 43.44% of eligible voters. This was a marginal increase on the voting per centage for the last elections in 2010 of 43.41%.
The newly elected mayor and councillors are to be sworn into office at Inaugural Meeting of Rotorua District Council at 7pm on 30 October in the council chamber at the RDC Civic Centre.
Community board members take office at the first Rotorua Lakes Community Board meeting on 31 October.
