Business Excellence Award for Rotorua Museum
Rotorua Museum
Rotorua Museum took out the Hospitality & Attractions Business Award at Friday night's Westpac Business Excellence Awards gala night held at the city's Energy Events Centre. The museum is owned and operated by Rotorua District Council.
Museum director Stewart Brown said he and in his team were delighted to get recognition among some of the best businesses in the district.
The support we have been given from all of our stakeholders has been outstanding," he said.
Rotorua Museum is not only an important cultural facility and home to many of the region's priceless taonga (treasures), it is also one of the country's top tourism attractions. Situated in Rotorua's spectacular Government Gardens, the museum is housed in the historic Tudor-styled Bath House building, once a government-run sanatorium and hospital providing thermal treatment and convalescence for soldiers returning from the action in World War 1.
Today it is believed to be the most photographed building in the country.
