Free talk to help get through a disaster
RDC Emergency Management coordinator Pauline Hitchcock.
Is your family prepared for when disaster strikes?
The earthquakes in Canterbury in 2010 and 2011, and more recently in Wellington, have highlighted the need for New Zealand families to be prepared in the event of a major emergency.
Rotorua District Council Emergency Management coordinator, Pauline Hitchcock, will give a free talk at Rotorua Museum on Sunday (25 August) at 2pm on how you and your family can 'get ready' prior to a disaster occurring.
Pauline has many years experience in assisting during civil defence emergencies and teaching people how to get organised before a disaster strikes.
This free talk is a great way to start planning how you and your family will get through in an emergency, and looks at specific types of disasters that are most likely to occur in Rotorua.
There will be free giveaways and the chance to win some useful items for your home disaster preparedness kit.
For further information about this free talk, please contact Naiomi Murgatroyd phone 07 351 8055.
The talk is being run in association with the exhibition Canterbury Quakes which is on display at Rotorua Museum until 6 October 2013. The exhibition explores the science of earthquakes, the human side of the Canterbury disaster and recovery, and has a strong emphasis on looking forward to the future.
