In conjunction with the Canterbury Quakes exhibition, Rotorua Museum is hosting a free presentation by Gitty Paalvast on Sunday 4 August at 2pm.
After the large earthquake that struck Canterbury on 22 February 2011, Gitty Paalvast headed to Christchurch as part of Rotorua's Emergency Response Team.
A qualified responder and safety officer, Ms Paalvaast arrived within 48 hours of the earthquake and spent time working with emergency crews from all over the world in the first critical response period.
Her presentation will offer a unique look behind the scenes in the Red Zone', and give a personal account of this emotional but rewarding role. Everyone who attends the talk will have the chance to win some useful items for their home disaster preparedness kit.
