i-SITE playing ‘Fairy Godmother’ to Rotorua teens
i-SITE marketing coordinator, Linda de Klerk
Rotorua's i-SITE has come up with some creative ways to help teens in the local community.
With ball season fast approaching and many Rotorua teenagers faced with the dilemma of what to wear to their big event i-SITE marketing coordinator, Linda de Klerk, is organising an i-SITE King and Queen of the Night' event and a Ball Dress Swap'. The two projects have similar objectives of helping Rotorua teens to help each other on their way to attending one of the highlights of the school social calendar.
I have two daughters and I know how important going to the ball is for them. There are some who can't go for a range of different reasons, so we wanted to make it happen for them, says Ms de Klerk.
The i-SITE King and Queen of the Night' offers a complete school ball experience for one Year 13 student nominated by each high school in the Rotorua district. This includes working with fashion students at Waiariki Institute of Technology to design and make a unique dress, suit hire for male students, transport, photography and much more.
We have created this special opportunity with the hope of it becoming an annual event that will grow as years go by. We are working closely with each high school to help nominated students attend their school ball in style, says Ms de Klerk.
The i-SITE is more than just a bus stop, we are a city asset and part of the community, and this is one way that we can give back to the community.
As well as organising i-SITE's King and Queen of the Night, Ms de Klerk is also coordinating a Ball Dress Swap' event that will be held on Thursday 25 July at the Rotorua i-SITE.
