Cactus Jack Backpackers wins WOW weekend in Wellington

Cactus Jack Backpackers has won a WOW weekend in Wellington for referring a guest to Rotorua Museum this summer.
Rotorua Museum ran a competition amongst local accommodation providers to recognise the important role they play in directing their guests to attractions and activities during their Rotorua stay.
"Our local accommodation sector is integral in providing visitors with valued recommendations and in doing so visitors stay longer, spend more, and go away raving about their Rotorua experience," said Destination Rotorua manager Oscar Nathan.
In conjunction with its Off the Wall: World of WearableArt Up Close exhibition Rotorua Museum offered a special incentive to boost visitors to the Museum over the summer. Accommodation providers simply referred guests to Rotorua Museum and went in the draw to win a trip to Wellington.
At the conclusion of the Off the Wall exhibition on Sunday 10 February, hundreds of entries were placed in the draw.
Museum director Stewart Brown said he was delighted with the popularity of the competition.
"It shows the importance of keeping the accommodation sector up-to-date with new developments. They are often the first point of contact for guests arriving into our city."
Cactus Jack Backpackers' prize package included Air New Zealand flights, accommodation at the Copthorne Oriental Bay, and premium tickets to attend the Wellington 2013 World of WearableArt Awards Show for two people.
The backpackers' owner Paul O'Connor said he was overwhelmed with the win.
"I always send people to the Museum. They comment on the magnificent building which sets the scene, and are never disappointed once inside. They love the experience and consider it great value for money."
Rotorua Museum will continue to offer discount vouchers to accommodation providers so they can promote the Autumn Season of Art, which includes four exhibitions opening at Rotorua Museum on 20 February.
