Beginners’ watercolour workshop at Museum
Beginners' watercolour workshop at Museum
11 February 2013
Local artist Judith Prictor will teach the delicate art of painting with watercolours in a half-day beginners' workshop at Rotorua Museum on Sunday [17 February].
This 4-hour workshop will include a guided tour of the Woollaston 101 exhibition with museum art curator Karl Chitham. He will use the more than 100 works by Toss Woollaston, one of New Zealand's most innovative watercolorists, as inspiration for this introduction to watercolours.
Participants will then learn basic watercolour skills from experienced artist and tutor Judith Prictor. She will show how to prepare and mix colours, as well as a range of techniques to create beautiful watercolour paintings.
Armed with these new skills, the group will head into Government Gardens to put theory into practice. Judith will work with each participant to enable their own individual style to develop.
Award winning artist Judith Prictor is a member of the Watercolour Society New Zealand.
"The inspiration for my work is drawn from the world around me - my garden, the landscape, bush, forest and the creatures that inhabit them," she says.
The workshop costs $35 per person and runs from 1pm to 5pm. It includes the Woollaston 101 talk, all equipment for the day (paints, paper and brushes), light refreshments and tuition. Spaces are limited so for further information or to make a booking, please contact William Yip on 07 351 7829 or email william.yip@rdc.govt.nz
