Four Rotorua tourism attractions have been named in AA's 101 Must Do's' list for 2012 showing how well Kiwi's are connecting with Rotorua and sharing news of their experiences.
Polynesian Spa was thrilled to be ranked second after Hanmer Springs, Rotorua Canopy Tours which opened in August was 21st, Skyline Rotorua came in at 31st and the Zorb was 75th.
The six week voting campaign clocked up a staggering 283,000 votes split over 1600 attractions from the Far North to the deep South and everywhere in between.
Polynesian Spa managing director Martin Lobb says with three spas in the top 10, it is evident that hot mineral bathing is a timeless and enduring activity for kiwis to relax and unwind.
We are thrilled to be voted as the second most popular Must-Do in New Zealand by kiwis and we thank our loyal Facebook followers and voting kiwis for supporting us in this campaign".
Martin believes great customer service and continuous improvements to its facilities are crucial to Polynesian Spa's on-going success.
New tourist attraction Rotorua Canopy Tours was surprised to have made such a high placing, despite having only been in business three months.
Director James Fitzgerald said he knew the canopy tours were something people were talking about, so it was great to see such a fantastic placing.
Well what can we say - you are all awesome! A huge thank you to everyone for voting for us - it means so much to us as a new business so thank you, thank you, thank you!
More than 2000 people have experienced the canopy tour and Fitzgerald is expecting summer to hum with visitors in 2013.
Skyline Rotorua was pleased to come in at 31st and with all their developments happening at the moment, Kiwi's have more than one reason to make sure they include Skyline in their next trip to Rotorua.
Skyline Rotorua recently opened New Zealand's first gourmet Jelly Belly Shop and Gallery. It is also in the process of building an on-site winery and tasting room with Volcanic Hills Wines and is about to launch an international food market as well which serves up everything from gourmet pies to crepes, pizza to fish and chips and curries to ice cream.
ZORB placed in 75th is always popular with Kiwi's as a world-first created here in Rotorua! A unique experience rolling down a hill in a globe, ZORB continues to develop new rides, including the most recent - The Drop - a steeper, longer and more thrilling experience.
Destination Rotorua Marketing general manager Oscar Nathan says it is great to see Kiwi's enjoying the wide array of activities Rotorua has to offer.
