Drop, Cover and Hold at 9.26am today - ShakeOut earthquake drill
News
At 9.26am today across New Zealand people will be undertaking an earthquake drill called ShakeOut.
This involves adopting the recognised procedure if an earthquake hits, ie Drop, Cover and Hold.
Rotorua District Council staff are participating in the drill and are following this up today with a simulated earthquake Civil Defence emergency exercise continuing until mid-afternoon.
Anyone contacting the council today is asked to be patient as many staff will be away from regular duties participating in the Civil Defence emergency exercise.
