Current road closures:
Reopening of Manawahe Road/Pongakawa Valley Road:
Council contractors Fulton Hogan has successfully repaired some damaged sections of Manawahe Road/Pongakawa Valley Road, to allow the road to be reopened Saturday, 2 December to traffic with temporary traffic controls in place. Council says some sections of the road edges are still too saturated to repair and the public are advised to drive with care. Instillation of the controls will begin November 30 and 31 and will remain in place over the Christmas/New Year break. This will also include;
- Traffic signals and single-lane closure at the under slip site near Kennedy Bay
- Priority give way and carriageway narrowing at one particular site section of Pongakawa Valley Road near Soda Springs.
- Concrete barriers will be reinstated along both sides of Manawahe Rd at Soda Springs to demarcate the edge of the road carriageway
- Temporary speed limits will be installed between Kennedy Bar and Soda Springs
