I refer to your Official Information request of 1 July 2026 for information regarding Council Fees Nov 2023 vs July 2026.
Question:
Rubbish bags: the retail price of an official council rubbish bag (per bag).
Answer:
Households that are still using rubbish bags in areas outlined on Council’s website HERE, pay the same targeted rates as those areas on the wheelie bin service. These areas are eligible for an allocation of 52 bags per year.

Question:
Kerbside refuse collection: the annual charge for council kerbside rubbish / wheelie bin collection, noting the bin size and whether the charge is a targeted rate or user-pays.

Answer:
Council is not responsible for public transport in Rotorua, this is managed by BOP Regional Council. Please find the link to their website Bay of Plenty urban bus fares updating from January 2026
Question:
Social housing rent: the average weekly rent for council-owned pensioner, elder, community, or social housing. If more than one category is operated, please break this down by category and give the number of units in each.
Answer:
Council only operates pensioner housing.

Answer:
Council does not provide this service for residents.
