“The Annual Report for the 2024/2025 financial year shows that we met all 23 water, wastewater and stormwater performance measures. This is testament to the diligent work of our council in looking after our assets.
“Over the next 18 months we will also learn from other councils that establish water service CCOs, while providing certainty for our water services customers over the next three years,” says Mr Moraes.
“The development of the Delivery Plan was supported by key planning instruments already adopted by Council such as the 2024 - 2034 Long-term Plan, which includes $427.5 million in planned investment - $90.9m for water supplies, $169.2m for stormwater, and $167.4m for our wastewater services. We’re committed to ensuring safe and reliable services to our community with stable infrastructure to support them, which is critical for protecting people, property and our environment.”
Mr Moraes says the Department of Internal Affairs acknowledged the level of detail and effort that went into developing the Rotorua delivery plan.
Next steps include continuing to investigate the potential merits of a multi-council CCO and further engagement with local communities and mana whenua.
