Council meeting wrap
Council finances on track
Council is heading into Christmas with finances on track.
Council ended the four months to the end of October with a $2m operating surplus and operating expenses on track, elected members were informed at a Council meeting today.
While capital spending at the end of the quarter was behind budget, this is expected to increase over the summer construction period as projects get underway.
Total income is tracking unfavourably against budget with a $5.1m variance although this is mainly due to capital grants and subsidies not yet being received. These are received from external parties such as Central Government or government agencies as contributions towards capital projects and are received once work starts or as milestones are reached.
The next financial report will include the operations of what was formerly InfraCore and will exclude events and venues which have now shifted to RotoruaNZ.
