Aquatic Centre indoor facility update

The Aquatic Centre project team has been working extremely hard to get the leisure pool back up and running so the indoor facility can open to the public.

Late Sunday evening, a problem was encountered which meant the pool could not be heated to the required temperature.

The refurbished indoor facility was due to open yesterday (Monday 27 May), but a decision was made on Sunday evening to postpone the opening until the problem could be fixed.

On further inspection, an issue with the pump intake system that returns pool water to the filtration plant was identified, and council is working with contractors to fix this as soon as possible.

Contractors estimate this will take approximately two weeks to fix.

Further details around the exact timing for reopening the indoor facility will be shared as soon as this can be confirmed, so that the public can get back into the swim of things – stay tuned!
