Infrastructure and Environment Group - Progress report – March 2024
Stage 1 of the Tarawera Sewerage Scheme is about 80% complete. Council received a petition in April from the Lake Rotokakahi Board of Control regarding the transmission of wastewater through Tarawera Road as part of the Tarawera Sewerage Scheme project. Infrastructure and Environment Committee Chair, Cr Karen Barker has responded to petitioners, addressing the concerns and possible solutions raised by the Rotokakahi Board.
More than 80% of on-property sewerage pre-treatment units at East Rotoiti have been installed with the collection working and treatment plant progressing in line with resource consent compliance.
Around 60 mana whenua properties have not installed the on-property systems yet due to Māori Land Court processes underway and contractors will install these as legal matters are concluded.
